Power Drain

Did you know that appliances that are turned off still suck electricity? Apparently, 75% of energy used by appliances occurs while they are turned off. Prevent this by plugging them into a power strip that actually cuts off the energy flow when you flip the switch to off.

We had an old refrigerator when we bought our house. When it finally gave out (it was avocado green), we bought a shiny new energy saver. Our electric bill went down by almost $80/month.

Wow - In about 8 months it would pay for itself. Hayley: I can match that avocado fridge and raise you a pink one (that my ex had when I met him, yikes!).
